Ubicación y Geografía:
Perú es un país montañoso ubicado en la costa del Pacífico de América del Sur. Tiene fronteras con Ecuador y Colombia por el norte, Brasil y Bolivia por el este y Chile por el sur. El Océano Pacífico se encuentra al oeste. Existen tres zonas naturales de norte a sur: Costa, Sierra y Selva.
Idioma:
El español y el quechua son los idiomas oficiales. El aymara y otros dialectos son hablados en el departamento de Puno y en la Selva. En la mayoría de las zonas turísticas se habla inglés.
Clima:
Varía dependiendo de la región. El verano empieza en Enero y en la Costa la temperatura es cálida pero no exagerada y es lluvioso en la Sierra y la Selva. El Invierno en la costa dura de Junio a Setiembre. Durante este período la Sierra se mantiene seca y soleada.
Hora:
La hora peruana se encuentra cinco horas después del meridiano de Greenwich y coincide con la Hora Standard del Este en los Estados Unidos.
Principales exportaciones:
Minerales, petróleo, café, algodón, lana de alpaca y pesca.
Pesos y Medidas:
Kilogramos y Sistema Métrico Decimal. Corriente Eléctrica: 220 V.
Religión oficial:
Católica, todos los feriados católicos son observados a nivel nacional.

Location and Geography:
Peru is a large, mountainous country on the Pacific coast of South America. It has borders with Ecuador and Colombia to the north, Brasil and Bolivia to the east and Chile to the south. The Pacific Ocean lies to the west. There are three natural zones running roughly north to south: Costa (Coast), Sierra (The Highlands) and Selva (Amazonian Jungle).
Language:
Spanish and quechua are the official languages. The aymara and many other dialects are spoken in some areas of the department of Puno and the jungle regions. English is spoken in major tourist areas.
Climate:
Varies according to the area. January is the first full summer month. Really nice weather, hot but not too much but brings heavy rains in the mountains and jungle areas. Winter on the coast lasts from June to September. During this period the mountain areas are often sunny.
Time:
Peruvian time coincides with Eastern Standard Time in the U.S. and is five hours behind G.M.T.
